Running is for Crazy People

Running is for crazy people.  That's what I used to say - and then I discovered I was crazy too.

Back when I insisted running was pure insanity, people probably walked away from me saying, 'Yeah...that bitch is crazy.  She needs to run'.

I've only been running for a couple of years, but I am so much happier with my crazy self now!  During a run is  the only time I can let my mind go.  I'm wondering how on earth I went so long without it.  By driving a lot of people crazy, probably.  Now that I'm running, I'm positive that's been remedied, and that people love being around me for long periods of time.

And now I'm thinking I wanna run for a good cause.  Because, you know, like any other list making multi-tasking neurotic child-loving mom/chick, I can't justify spending this much time running, just for myself anymore.  But I learned there are these amazing thing called 'charity runs'.  Have you heard of them?  It's perfect for me because, I can keep running, and not feel guilty about it!    Wait a minute.  Am I still being selfish for basically  figuring out a way to run 'guilt-free'...?   So it is kind of a selfish act.  But no...I'd like to think that I'm being productive - while I'm putting in the time preparing for the charity runs, I happen to be getting exercise at the same time.  That's okay, right?  Besides, it's also an awesome way for SweetPotatoMayas to get involved in the community.  I really think it's a win-win situation.  Don't you?

So, here on this page, I will be recording my runs.  We'll see how it goes!  And as always, thanks so much for popping in and reading :)

  1. Good for you! (I STILL think running is for crazy people, but I also think "bless the crazy people!") :-) Even if you did only run for yourself, I'd think that was great with zero need to feel guilty about it. But it's nice you can run for charity, which makes it good for your heart in more ways than one! Or like "feeding two birds with one scone." :-)
